
Alan Kishbaugh first met Krishnamurti in the 1960s and became a Trustee of the newly formed Krishnamurti Foundation of America where he served for thirty years, four of them as Executive Director.
From his close contact with Krishnamurti and his understanding of his teachings, he has fashioned an intimate memoir of time spent with a great teacher and of the people and organizations that became associated with him.
The author’s long-standing environmental commitment has led to his appointments to the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy Advisory Committee, a California State Agency, and to Chair of the Mulholland Scenic Design Review Board of the Planning Department of the City of Los Angeles.
He has written for television and documentary films, and for the Los Angeles Times and other publications. A collection of forty of his newsletters on civics and environmental issues is preserved in the Special Collections Department of the Charles E. Young Research Library at the University of California, Los Angeles.
In 2017, The University of New Mexico Press published his book, DEEP WATERS: Frank Waters Remembered in Letters and Commentary, a literary memoir of his thirty-year friendship with southwestern writer, Frank Waters.
He is currently working on an autobiographical book about growing up in the American West.
